My Creative Space this week is full of doubt…..

I’m having a very badly timed creative slump. My second ever market stall is this weekend at The Handmade Expo and I am feeling blah about all of my stock.

I’m really worried that the copper jewellery that I have been obsessed with the last month or so just isn’t up to scratch.

I don’t feel like making playdough, I don’t feel like doing any of the prep work that is required.

Then I keep remembering the posts of these inspirational ladies.
Miriam from Bubba Chenille is facing her 20th market stall this year.
Cathie from m.e. has 2 markets this weekend with mountains of baking required for each one.
Little Brown Dog's Bec just conquered 3 stalls in two days with a tiny baby in tow.
Then there is the unstoppable Cam of Curly Pops fame my head just swims when I read how busy she has been lately about a million market stalls and new retail stockist popping up everywhere.

If these special ladies can do it so can I, I just need to find the positive excited place I was in two days before my last stall (without all of the nerves!) and get my wares ready to put out there and hope for the best.

I have my fingers crossed I am out of this slump quick smart. Any tips on what you do to get out of funks like this would be greatly appreciated.

Check out what all of the other creative folk are up to this week over at the fabulous Kootoyoo.

  1. I think you should get a cup of coffee and find a shady spot and relax for a little bit. Stop stressing because that will prevent your creative juices!!! Your copper jewelery is great!! Have a great market!!!!

  2. Oh no! Creative slumps always seem to come at the most inconvenient times my dear, but I know you'll get through it!

Your copper jewellery is looking awesome, seriously... look with fresh eyes at that first photo & tell me it isn't?!

Here's hoping you are feeling better about things & rearing to go ASAP!

  3. Take drugs. No! I'm joking. the slump happens to everyone and as you said it's just bad timing. Maybe step away for a little while and have a walk, talk to a friend, have a bath and then when you feel better start writing a list of what you need to do. I'm sure you will get through it and have a fantastic stall. Good luck, I'm sending you lots of positive feelings through the airwaves! xo

  6. I think we all have to expect a slump in creative energy at times! Sometimes it's a good thing though - fired us up for the next "up" moment.

I think your stuff looks lovely! I hope the market goes really well for you.

  19. The copper work looks beautiful. Don't let self doubt take hold and steal your momentum. I've allowed that to happen lately and I only just realised it. You're a wonder woman just like the other super women you referred to.

  20. Your copper jewellry is organically beautiful! I know how self-doubt can eat at insipiration but it is also part of what keeps you finding your inner standard so it is part of the process: I would accept that it is to be expected but not necessarily listened to. I like the advice of taking a walk or some sort of 'breather' to clear your head and get back at it. I have not participated in any shows or sales in many years but I am sure yours will be a success.
