A busy night in the studio.

I couldn’t sleep last night, so I got a lot done in the studio.

I like this “Purple Peas” pendant the best; I can’t wait to go out so I can wear it! Maybe the Little Guy and I will have to go to the trash and treasure markets so it can have an outing!

What a lucky Little Guy

How lucky is Little Guy? He is now the proud owner of a Cuggles Creations apron, custom made just for him, with an Elephant on the pocket.  Perfect for all of our “cook, cook” adventures.

He shall have to wear it for our second attempt at these biscuits, unfortunately our dodgy oven over cooked them (of course it was the oven and not my skill in the kitchen!!!). I have been the lucky recipient of a batch of Mummy Cuggles Golden Cinnamon Biscuits and can vouch for just how yummy they are when cooked properly. I hope I get the second batch right.

If some little person you know would look adorable in a Cuggles apron you can buy them from Handmade Heaven, if you can’t get into the store Liesa will happily do a phone order for you.

Camping Adventures

We are home, all unpacked and cleaned up. As predicted many photos were taken and here are a few that I’d like to share…..

Sunsets and Sunrises. Little Guy made sure we didn’t sleep through the sunrises.  Or much of the rest of the night – but I didn’t get my camera out for that!

Lots of Aussie wildlife, all drawn to the water's edge.

We delighted watching Rainbow Lorikeets dance and sing outside a tree hollow in our campsite, we assumed they were proud parents. When the Galah’s returned they made sure we knew whose nest it was and that trespassing by lorikeets would not be tolerated!

A canoeing adventure, which had a dramatic ending attended by an international rescue team.

Ok it wasn’t that dramatic, they tipped the canoe, but they were a long way out and had our 5 year old camping companion with them. They were rescued by a bloke from Canada and a bloke from Scotland who just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Thank you International Rescue for bringing Curly Guy back to me safely.

Now I just have to wait for inspiration to strike and lead me to the piece of our trip that needs to become a work of art.

I wish I lived in Wonderland......

Little Guy and I spent the morning in Wonderland.

It was exciting and inspiring and just a little overwhelming – but in a good way.

We will have to visit again before it finishes, it was so much fun.

Little Guy just kept running around exclaiming wow! I’m pretty sure that means it was a hit.

What is your favorite piece of “I Wish I Lived in Wonderland”? I think mine is the pink lampshade as a skirt on the pink legs, but the pink apple is a close runner up or maybe it’s the Humpty Dumpty way up high.

It’s Tuesday and I can’t wait….. to share what I did this morning with you.

Check out this little flock. Aren’t they adorable? They are just ready to fledge, I think a few of them will go and roost at Handmade Heaven when I drop in there tomorrow.

The studio clean up last night went really well and it has led to a very productive morning.

I recycled some paper (with a kit that I picked up at the op shop for $5.50 – what a score!).

Then I designed and carved this little owl stamp. I even had time to stamp the cards that I made with the recycled paper! I haven’t had such a productive morning in years and I am on a high. Thanks so much to Mummy Cuggles and Baby Cuggles who had a playdate with Little Guy so that I could have a few hours creative time.

I can’t think of a name for this little owl, I’d love to hear your ideas. Please help me name him; he’s just too cute to go with out a moniker.

A perfect Sunday morning

Thanks for the flowers Little Guy and Curly Guy.
We indulged in German Pancakes for a late breakfast, a bit of a nod to Blogtoberfest!  The recipe came from Salt and Chocolate, thanks Mary Beth, it was so yummy and so easy, it will be added to our special breakfast repertoire.
What’s your perfect Sunday morning?

Water, water

Yesterday was such a fun filled, busy day.   Little Guys cousin spent the day with us and he loved it. We visited a beautiful park in the morning; it was so nice having a little helper, I got to take a lot more photos than I would have if it was just Little Guy and I.  His cousin loved keeping him occupied while I was being snap happy.

Little guy was captivated by this waterfall at the park, he just kept looking over the edge saying water, water, he was fascinated and would have stayed for hours. I suppose it nothing to be surprised about his Mum is rather fascinated by waterfalls too. The painting below is one of my largest works, it is called “Cascades” and it hangs in Little Guys toy room. It takes up most of the wall, so I guess it has had an impact on him.

We finished off our day by making chocolate chip cookies and drawing, what a perfect day.

Creative fun with Little Guy

I haven’t been feeling too well the last couple of days so as a result I have been quiet here and in my studio. Little Guy and I have been having some really easy creative fun. Yesterday we painted the cement with a big brush and water. I had plans to draw on the wet cement with chalk, but he wasn’t really interested, so we just stuck to the painting. He did have a go at painting the grass with water and then the very patient dog. He had heaps of fun and it didn’t require too much energy on my part, or any mess, just what I needed yesterday.

I have just made a batch of glitter green, cinnamon scented playdough, it’s my first ever attempt and it was a success and so easy. I got the recipe from Montessori Journey as well as the idea to add the glitter and the cinnamon. When Little Guy woke from his nap I had it all set up, but he was a bit out of sorts and not very impressed.  I hope he gets into it more tomorrow and that I am feeling up to getting some more creating done tomorrow too.

Drawing, music and thrifting treasure......

I have had such a great morning. The Little Guy created this lovely green drawing, which reminds me a bit of an oil painting I painted a couple of years ago. It is titled Optimism and it hangs in my bedroom. I will never be able to part with it is is one of my favorites.

Then we went of to music for some singing and dancing fun and a catch up with mates. One of my favorite thrift shops is right near music so we had to go and see if we could pick up a bargain.
We really scored today, some days are just like that thrifting! today Little Guy scored a wooden train for $10 a couple of the blocks are missing from the wagon (we have about a million blocks so I am sure he will find a replacement) and one of the links that joins the engine to a carriage will need a minor repair, but other than that it is perfect and I am thrilled.
I didn't miss out either, I found another jar of vintage buttons and a stack of little brown note books that I will upcycle along with the buttons into some funky little note/sketch books. I also picked up some vintage pillow slips and doilies, I plan to upcycle these into little artworks.
I completed my first little upcycled painting last night using a doilie and vintage buttons and I am so happy with it, it is very sweet, I shall share a photo soon. Off to get creative now while the little guy sleeps.
